Live Brief Project
Your ideas development and problem-solving ability
I think I worked well with the team while being at college, as when the team really needed the help with project, I explained and walked through the audio clips so max had an idea on what to draw, I carefully listened to the audio clips, this was done multiple times.
Your role in the project and professional practice
My role in this project was being a floor manager for this project but I think I had another role; being an editor. At the start of the year, I wasn’t in for round 3 week as the college had a mix up with my timetable, so I missed a lot of planning for this project. I do understand that I was late or missing lessons, so my professional practice wasn’t as good this time round, I had better professional practice in other projects, I understand too that I need to work on this in future projects, most of the time I was there helping my team with this project at college.
Creating call sheets and risk assessments
The creating call sheets and the risk assessment had no part in has I wasn’t in when this took place, this is stated above but the risk assessment itself, I did carry this out in the tv studio with max, explaining the risks of being in the tv studio.
Getting permission
When we needed equipment, we needed to email the equipment team to let them know when we need the equipment, the same thing for the tv studio, anything that needs to be borrowed needs permission. When you need to film in an area or filming people in private property or filming people that needs permission, permission is very important as you could get in trouble or in legal trouble.
Technical roles (camera operator, lighting and editing)
The camera operator was all setup to capture the kids in the video, my role in this project was too be a floor manager so was to manage the
What did you need to create based on the demands of the brief?
The brief made it very clear, that it needed to be a 3-minute promotional video, there are list of what the brief is asking for. You must research the business and other videos they have already put out individually, you must create an all-in-one, planning document as a group, you must meet with the client at least 3 times during the process and document your meetings, you must edit as a group, you must outline the process via a blog and discuss the part you played in the team, and You must evaluate the process on a blog.
How you came up with your initial ideas, and how you developed them (research into the theme, genre research)
The initial ideas and the research into the theme and genre this happened before I got into college as there was a mix up with my timetable, the college miss led me in to thinking that I was in the first year of the course, this is what they said through Messager. This took round 3 weeks to sort the mix up.
Your intentions and goals for the project
My goal for this project was to work as a team and I think achieved this this project. The final product seems well edited, and I think the client will accept the final product.
The importance of detailed planning and research
Has a team we planned out the pitch so we would be ready for the day of the pitch. Every person needed to take part in the pitch so they could get their grades. I had a part in the pitch, I was told to present the information to the class. I knew that I needed to present it in a professional manner, with eye contact and clear voice. The pitch took round 5 mins, and they were questions at the end of the pitch as people were interested in the dates of when the filming day will take place and as a team told the class on when the filming will take place.
What problems did you encounter during your project and how did you overcome them?
We had a group discussion on what the Plan B is as the filming wasn’t going as well, as the deadline was coming closer and closer, there was risk of failing the project, has time wasn’t on our side. We were suggested to start an animation for this project, I helped with this, the recording we had from the first shoot was on our hard drive, I dragged the clips into the soft so I could go through the recording so I could tell my team member on what to draw, this took some time, this would have been part of the project. What feedback did you get during the project and how did you adapt your work afterwards?
How did your final film differ from your original ideas? Did the message or meaning change because of this?
The main message makes awareness of what goes on in the charity, we had been asked to do animation, when the first shoot didn’t go so well but the message would have been the seem as we were following the recordings of the first session. The result was we did an anther shoot and this time it well.
How effectively do you think you communicated your message? Explain
The message is clear that it makes the children a better person overall, you can see in the video that they enjoy spending time at the centrer, so the overall message was to make awareness of how well they care for the children in this organisation. The overall message was different, and it didn’t change because of this. I have listened to the final product, and I do believe that we communicated the message effectively.
What were your strengths during this project?
The strengths for this project the editing and sorting out the tv studio. Knowing where the power hub so the student knows what to look out for, I went through the process of the risk assessment with max my team member. I think I worked well with the team while being at college, as when the team really needed the help with project, I explained and walked through the audio clips so max had an idea on what to draw, I carefully listened to the audio clips, this was done multiple times.
What skills do you need to develop to be more successful on future projects?
I need to build on my time keeping for future projects as this will only hurt me in the long-time. I do understand this needs to be improved.
What lessons have you learnt?
The lessons that I have learnt is that I need to work on being on time, I think this is what I need to work on, hopefully in future projects I need to work on this. I’ve that I need to tell the team
How important is organisation, time management and preparation for a successful film production?
Organisation is very important as this safes time in the long-term, if the team or the team member isn’t organisation then then the team will fall behind and this will waste time, so it’s very important to be originated. This is the same for time management, for example one of the team member may have all the footage on their hard drive and one day they come in late, rest of the team may be editing, but they don’t have all the footage to edit with, this will waste time in the process. Time management once again is very important. I have learnt that being prepared is very important as well. For example, doing a pitch is difficult to do but having not having the information in your head already will affect the way you present the information to the audience, in this case the class, so being prepared days before will help you more than trying to do it last minute, and I have learnt this for next time.
How important is clear communication for successful film production?
Communication is very important in film production because the only way the film going to be successful is if you communicate with your team members, so the process is quicker and not slower. If the team members don’t communicate then the project won’t go anywhere and they may fail the project, time is very important when taking part in film production projects.
